The Toasters: A Fan's Concert Note

This is another page from the early days of the Pranksters website, from before the video archive. It is a short fan note about a ska band, kept because other sites still link to it.

The note

The writer calls it ska, rough and rude, in your face. The Toasters' lineup at the time included two members of The Specials, and he says the show is great: love it up. He also warns that anyone who sees them on tour should expect to be sore the next day. The note ends with a line saying Easy Big Fella was also great.

What the note tells us

  • It was written for fun by a fan, not as a review for a magazine.
  • It names The Specials, one of the best-known ska groups, as a source of the lineup's pedigree.
  • It treats the show as physical: the writer expects you to be sore the next day.

Why a pranks site has a ska page

Pranksters has been online since 1998, and not every early page was about pranks. The companion page is a note on The Spinanes. For the story of how the site grew into what it is now, read Our Story.
