The Spinanes: A Fan's Concert Note

This page comes from the early days of the Pranksters website, which has been online since 1998. It is a plain, short note from a fan about a band, kept here because other sites still link to it.

The note

The writer saw The Spinanes at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle on September 16, 1998 and says they put on a fantastic show. He had seen them before, south of Market in San Francisco and at the Warfield, back when the band was Rebecca and the original drummer. He liked the full sound of an unlikely duet, bought their first album the next day and has been hooked since.

The albums listed on the page

  • Arches and Aisles
  • Strand
  • Manos

What he liked about the live show

The note praises how well the band takes studio material and plays it live. It singles out the guitarist's playing, and it says Rebecca had gathered a strong team around her. The show includes a solo stretch she calls her Zamboni section, and the writer describes the music as torturing the instruments and tearing your heart out.

Why it is still here

The page is a small piece of internet history, a reminder of how the site looked before it grew into the archive of videos and tools you see now. You can read how that happened on the Our Story page.
