What is a prank page?

A prank page (sometimes called a "prank website" or "prank link") is a full-screen web page that fakes something alarming — a virus, a system update, a hacker breaking in — for a few seconds of glorious panic before you reveal the joke. Because each one is just a web page, nothing is ever installed, downloaded or damaged. Close the tab, the "prank" is gone.

They're a staple of April Fools' Day pranks and work any day of the year on any device.

How to prank someone with a prank page

  1. In person — pick a prank, open it on their phone or laptop, press F11 for fullscreen, and leave the device where they'll find it.
  2. Send as a link — every prank has its own shareable URL. Paste it into chat and the prank opens straight into fullscreen on their device.
  3. Reveal it — when they panic, tap the screen or press Esc. Nothing has changed on the device.

Are prank pages safe?

Yes — completely. Every prank on this page is built from ordinary HTML, CSS and JavaScript, exactly like any other website. They cannot access files, install anything or damage your phone or computer, and the "virus" / "hacker" / "FBI lock" screens are pure illusion. Nothing survives closing the tab. Just keep it kind — pull the prank on someone who'll laugh, and reveal it quickly.
